Saturday night at Transit

I don't know if, outside of Canberra, the ACT is known for its live music and local bands.  Living in Sydney I knew that both Nic Dalton and Stevie Plunder were from Canberra and thinking about it now, it is strange to think that Stevie Plunder lived in the suburb I now call my home. I wish he was still here now.

People have a preconceived idea about Canberra, but this city is full of surprises. I only found the good stuff after I moved here. If you look past the grayness of the city centre and the circles of suburbs you'll find great food, fantastic bars and interesting people doing their own thing.

Last night I went to Transit Bar to see The Fighting League and Young & Restless, two fantastic Canberra bands. I want The Fighting League to marry Young & Restless and have crazy punk babies. Canberra kids, you are lucky to have a venue like the Transit Bar where you can see bands for free.  If you weren't at the gig last night, check both bands out at myspace.

  1. I'm from Wollongong originally, but lived in Sydney for a couple of years, then moved down here (I'm in Qbn actually). This is my 3rd year down here full time, but I didn't see any live music down here until Stonefest last year. I misse live music - I think that's what I miss most about being a Uni student - the number of bands I got to see :)
I should see more live music down here - but is it weird to go on your own?
