Adam Albin - Stockholm

Adam Albin. http://adamalbin.se/en/menu

I can't remember the details of this meal now that a few months has passed, except that it was the best.

The room was divine. I sat around a beautiful shared table facing the kitchen - everything about it was pure Scandinavian restraint. The service was excellent, the wine list was interesting and the food was sublime.  The chef was in the house, and unbeknownst to me, is quite the celebrity.

Such a visually beautiful but also well balanced menu. If I ever go back to Stockholm this is the first place I'll be booking for dinner.

Slow roasted deliciousness

This recipe was modified from a bunch of different recipes - so lets just go with the following as tested, easy and tasty.

Get a slab of pork (well seasoned) and brown in some butter and olive. While it is browning (about 8 minutes or so) chop up a small onion and mince garlic. Add to pork and stir.

After a few minutes add some smoked paprika (about a teaspoon), some hot sauce (about a tablespoon), extra salt, pepper and a glass of wine or two (I mixed white and red). Bring to boil and add a tin of tomatoes (and fennel seeds if you have some). Place in an ovenproof dish like a clay pot (or if your started this shebang in a dutch oven extra points to you)

In your heated oven (180) cook the crap out of the pork for about 3 - 4 hours. Check it every hour so that the sauce has not evaporated away and turn every hour.

Take it out of the oven and watch it fall apart in the most delightful way. Served with pasta after adding in extra slow cooked tomatoes and parsley. Or just eat a big slab of meat with polenta.

Knewzaba - cafe Beijing

Coffee, bike and antique enthusiasts look no further: Knewzaba is the place for you.  Hidden down a flight of stairs we stumbled across this place by chance. Yeah, the antiques are overpriced - but the coffee is good and quite the space to while away some time away from the heat and crowds.

Hay Coffee

Hipster coffee shops continue to appear in Guangzhou city.  It's been a while since we sought a new one out... so much so that our gang of three has grown to a gang of 3 and a quarter. Luckily the new gang member is pretty good company.

Hay coffee is about a 10 minute stroll from the end of the APM line. Great big space, amazing coffee and like Lock Chuck, lots of local patrons.

That Japanese restaurant I went to 3 times in 18 hours...

Sadly I don't know the name, but the brochure is below for all you Chinese speakers.

Anyone who can't read the brochure - let's do lunch!

Anyone that doesn't want to lunch with me...it's in Zhujiang New Town, just walk up Huali Lu (towards IFC) and on the left hand side there will be a small lane called Huazheng Street (or it might be the laneway before that...who am I kidding) Either ways it's about a block before you get to Chois coffee, or around the corner from Fusion Japan if you are going to other way. Walk up that lane and it's on the left hand side.

Forget it. Let's just meet for lunch!

Copenhagen - what I did and how I did it (part 5 Torvehallerne)

Torvehallerne. One of the best food halls ever.  When I move to Copenhagen and spend my days walking the dog with my handsome duffel coated boyfriend, I suspect we are going to spend a lot of time shopping here.
