Here is something you won't want to do on a Friday night...

Think that it is a good time to clip your dogs nails while he is sleeping. Got to clip one whole nail - but a bit too short. 53 minutes of bleeding, 5 google searches, half a roll of toilet paper and a tablespoon of flour later and I wouldn't say all is forgiven - but at least the blood has stopped and so has the glaring at me. Dogs can glare you know. And sigh loudly.

  1. Dunno what's worse: overclipping or accidentally ripping a claw. You, one day years ago I took the black and tan one out for a walk while Fiona was taking Charlie to training. Met up with some other people and their dogs and had a fun time on a little sandy stretch on the river. But it was time to head back and must've knocked Shep a bit awkwardly because he yelped but looked fine.

So, we got all the way home without incident and I sat down at the computer for a while. And then got up for a drink or something, and saw all these red spots on the carpet... I can't remember the details, maybe Shep was also licking his paw at the time too. I had a look, and eventually found that one of his dew claws looked much shorter than it had recently. Ouch! I must have trodden on it and ripped the end of on the outing. No wonder the poor little bugger yelped. The bleeding did stop, eventually.

  2. Yeah this was a dew claw too - if that is the funny hook stupid claw above their feet. Ouch! I think both are pretty bad options.

  3. Yeah, the dew claw is that big stabby hook at about the thumb position.

  4. If it happens again, soap is the way to stop the bleeding - claw the soap with the bleeding claw.
