We started the morning following Andrea's plan (Andrea being a friendly Berliner who told us what to do in 24 hours via the lonely planet) and went down to the old town for breakfast and to look at some galleries. The juice was amazing - lime, mint and pineapple. Walking down the river front past the mosque was kind of refreshing - the breeze off the water dulling the 40 degree heat.
We caught an abra across the creek and went to the gold souk. So much gold - but so much hot, and thats about the time we decided Andrea's plans were pants. Sorry Andrea we were not going to go indulge in a massage, after wandering the souk. We have a massive mall to navigate.
It was about a million degrees without the breeze, so we jumped in the best taxi ever - all cool and lemon scented and went to the Dubai Mall, and up to the tallest building in the universe. Well not to the top of the tallest building but to the nearly top part. The view was amazing - so sandy, with mirages of palm trees and swimming pools.
After the Burj Khalifa we went to an incredible lunch at Zuma - a swanky too cool for school Japanese restaurant. Set lunch of rare beef, followed by prawn and cod gyoze, followed by amazing salmon. All washed down with a cheeky rose. Then back mall bound, where after too much shopping we recharged with a coffee and a salt caramel macaroon.
Clearly Andrea - me and Liz win the 24 hour in Dubai battle.
Sounds fun!! It's great exploring a new city.
