Kepos Street Kitchen

I'd heard about this restaurant a long time ago. A lovely story about a chef and his partner going to brunch and talking about opening up their own place. Between walking to brunch and back, a perfect shopfront had a for lease sign placed in the window - so Kepos Street Kitchen was just meant to be.

And as luck would have it, we were able to nab a table before seeing Phoenix. After a battle with Sydney traffic, the pomegranate mojito and rosewater dry martini made an excellent start to the meal. Fresh bread with some sesame leaning dukkha to start followed by dates smothered with the lightest goats cheese and sprinkled with pistachio. Doesn't sound as impressive as it really was. Dates = AmAzInG.

Then the best falafel since the middle east adventures. Light, garlicky gems of goodness. The cauliflower salad was the only let down. the punchy flavour to start turned into very acidic salad which left a burning sensation in your mouth. Because it tasted so great I pushed through the burning pain and kept on eating…possibly not the most sensible option but it is hard to be sensible surrounded by so much pomegranate.

It's worth a try if you are around the Waterloo end of Sydney: keposstreetkitchen.com.au/main/
