18th Biennale of Sydney

Reasons why you should go to this Biennale?

I'll tell you later, but just know it is amazing.

  1. Probably way to late for you to find this reply, but...

Hell, yeah! We haven't been to Cockatoo Island yet, but the bits we've seen have been really entertaining. Did you see the wind chimes and maze-like thingy at Pier 2/3? And I was gobsmacked by the wine bottle foil pieces. That big suspended installation was quite fun too, though the sound triggering part of it did remind me of good old Severed Heads' "Chasing Skirt" installation at (I guess) the 1988 Biennale.

  2. No - I didn't get to Pier 2/3. I only got to AGNSW for an hour on a day trip to Sydney and MCA for even less time. Cockatoo Island is not as exciting as the work at AGNSW but still a fun experience. I think 1988 was the Readymade Boomerang Biennale. Was it the first? The first I remember anyways!

  3. I remember the Readymade Boomerang name but have no idea which Biennale is which. I'd forgotten all about the Biennale also being at AGNSW, because I replied to this before seeing your "City of Ghost" post. We have to get along to that, if only to see that piece; it looks amazing.
