Canton Campari
Here's how you make a Canton Campari. You go to your local supermikado and buy some green fruit, which you believe to be very large limes (though given the small size of the other limes you have been buying you have some strong reservations).
On arriving home you discover the green things are actually mandarins. You juice one. And because your juicer is yet to arrive, you actually just smoosh up the mandarin with your hand into a bowl. How elegant.
Juice a quarter ruby re grapefruit (see method outlined above).
Add ice to a glass. Add a good teaspoon of castor sugar to the ice (really actually a tablespoon).
Put the green mandarin and ruby grapefruit juice into the glass. Add a big dash of campari. Add about a half of that sized dash of gin and stir. Drink while smugly looking at your incredible view.

China - week 9
Okay. I'd like my stuff to get here now.
Aside from that - I'm still excited by my view. Friday night spent listening to the Beastie Boys, drinking red wine and watching the twinkling lights - then coincidentally going to bed at the same time the lights were turned off.
The rest of the week? Chinese lessons, shared lunches, rainy days, animal shaped biscuits, late work nights, steak dinners, relaxed after work drinks and all of a sudden we are back to Friday.

Qing Yuan - Yuexiu District
Just off the infamous Yan Dun Lu (not really infamous but the only street I took a picture of to get my bearings) is a beautiful vintage shop called Qing Yuan. Within 10 seconds of entering I knew that I'd found a world within this big city that was for me.
A beautiful installation of embroidery, some vintage scarves and amazing dresses and in a wonderful old building. No. 3 Yan Dun Road.

Owl Cafe - Yuexiu District
I can't remember the name of this cafe exactly - but you won't miss it. Keep walking down Yandun Lu and you will see a cosy little place, full of kind of twee things (but in a good way). Okay coffee, pretty cupcakes and the kind of place you could bunker down and spend a few hours whiling away a rainy afternoon.
