Guangzhou city has changed so much in my short time here. New restaurants, a great supermarket around the corner with most of the things, and lately... it seems that everyone is opening either a boutique brewery or a coffee shop in this part of town.
The latest is WANTOK a short stroll away from the skyscrapers toward little Tokyo. It's a cosy little space run by some Australians - and a little bit surreal ordering the perfect flat white from someone with the such a broad accent.
You could be in Braddon, Surry Hills, or really anywhere but here. Which is great, because while I love the big skyscrapers and neon night scape of this city in China, I also love the idea of G to the Z becoming more cosmopolitan in its own haphazard way. That anyone can come to this town and have a go at pursuing a dream, whether it's a cafe, a pasta joint or a champagne bar. Not that anyone has opened a champagne bar, yet but I just thought I'd put that out there...
