Day 3 - along the Heyson towards Arkaba

Walk through meadows with trees and wildflowers all around. More creek beds and shale like rock formations. A few hills and then all of a sudden - the homestead in the distance. Forty plus kilometres. Professional hiker.

Day 2 - Walking in creeks

Woke to a full moon and a morning of walking amongst the dry creek beds. Soft sand, wildflowers, and mossy rocks.  Over a ridge and through the valley and back up again. The Elder Range appears all around, like the worlds biggest opal. Red lines of colour against a bright blue sky.

Day 1 - from Wilpena Pound

Warm sun, emus, craggy hills, flies and flowers. A walk up a steep slope with hundreds of pebbly rocks underfoot. Down again through scrub, going slowly until the grassy goat track. Lizards without legs, and views that took our breath away. Camp where the sun set over the ranges and the moon took all night to appear.
