My Place & Yours - Wherever I lay my hat

This week the My Place & Yours theme is wherever I lay my hat.

Tania from Myrtle & Eunice would love to know:

What object would you take wherever you roam, because it makes your house feel like a ‘home’?

My house only feels like a home when this little guy is hanging around.
The days when he isn't here the yellow house is just empty and isn't the same. I'm pretty sure most of the visits I get are partly to see Barney too. He is a fricking crazy mutt, but that is what kind of makes him special. Once he loves you, he loves you 127% no returns.

I don't know what I'll do when he goes to that place that nobody wants to talk about. Yes it can be annoying to be stalked from room to room, and the barking, and the cheeky tapping when he wants something - but that's a small price to pay for the love and the company.

When I travel to places far away, I always take this photo with me so I can keep Barney dog near. It reminds me of home and makes me happy.
If you want to see more ? Pop into Pip's.

Great art heist of Lyneham

It is true, thieves snuck into the Front Gallery under the cover of night and stole from our show The Wolves On The Fold.

It was one of George's pieces and I guess he should feel complimented. His painting is now The Scream of Canberra.

Retired

Internet, it has been a difficult week in the yellow house in the U. After 10 years on the field, Barney has retired injured. No more star ball chasing, no more frisbee, no more chasing games, no more manning up, no more hide and seek.

At first it wasn't so hard...and then the painkillers kicked in and now he wants to play. He barks at all the balls which have been hidden in sinks and on shelves. When that gets tiresome he just sits next to the spot the ball is hidden - staring at me, then staring at it and PLEADING to play.

He follows me around from room to room, just in case. Right now he sits at my feet while I write this post, looking at me like I'm bananas. Why? Because people of the internet, this is when we play ball - WHY AREN'T YOU THROWING THE BALL?

So ten years of conditioned behaviour out the window. 10 years of practice and refining the art of catch and return. 10 years of learning the names of the objects he catches. Frisabee, Starball, Hedgie, Saucisse, Square Ball. And now? Now there is barking at birds, ripping up packets of stuff, and hiding under the bed when it is time for me to put him outside.

I wish he understood why we don't do the thing we love the most anymore.

I think that makes me the saddest.

The Ginger Room

I don't really even like soufflé that much, but how could you not order this? The Ginger Room is always great for a relaxed evening. Fantastic service and food.

My Place & Yours - Nice , different, unusual

This weeks theme is -That's nyoice, that's different, that's unewesyewl!

It comes from Toni, who asks: Does your home have a quirky feature or several?

I have to admit, I found this weeks theme a little difficult...but then my mum and stepdad came to visit and bingo! She sat in my lounge and looked up and told Len to look too:

She was amazed at the birds in the lights, and said "they are new!".

Nup - they have been up there for years, but nobody ever sees them straight away. I think they are nice, and I guess an unusual surprise.

See more nice and unusual stuff here.

Zierholz

Have you been? You should.

Great locally brewed beer and food to match. They do a clever little set of beer tasters for $10. This is why I love Canberra. Microbrewery, brewing German style beers, by a German in the middle of an industrial estate.

Zierholz. Go. Because Bier schmeckt gut.
